Baking is an ongoing occupation for the holiday festivities.
Christmas cakes were traditionally made in OCTOBER (get going folks!). Puddings as well were always made months in advance. For a more impromptu effort, though, biscuits or cookies are quick to make and important to have on hand to offer to visitors, and allowing the children to join into the floury fray is sure to create great memories for all concerned.
Gingerbread, spice cookies, sugar cookies, cupcakes are all intergenerational delights and even a 3 year old will be a whizz at sticking ‘noses and eyes’ onto iced treats. Get organized before you start and allow yourself to make a total mess with your little helpers; they can also learn to clean up before they sample their wares. Baking provides warmth in all possible ways during the holiday!
